And Then He Kissed Her

And Then He Kissed Her

When I wrote And Then He Kissed Me, it was 2023 - it's a story of the moment my husband saw me wearing the first Maggie Wool Jumper sample in 2021. His eyes lit up with pride, smiling as he approached, and then he kissed me.

At the time, that small gesture said everything: I’d created something special. That blog marked the beginning of sharing Miss G & Me with you - and the love stories that underpins it all.

Now, a few years on, I find myself writing its sequel. And Then He Kissed Her is not about me this time, but about the women who have walked into the Miss G & Me studio - and the love I’ve witnessed reflected in the eyes of their partners.

The Look of Love

The studio has seen many tall women walk through the door. Each appointment, a mix of nervous excitement and quiet relief - finally, a place where clothes are made for tall women, not just longer hems on a standard pattern.

And there are two visits that have stayed with me.

The first was an older couple shortly after we moved to our forever home in Cambridge - the kind of couple who can finish each other’s sentences without trying. She was tall, elegant, and previously recovered from chest surgery. Her scars were visible, yet she preferred open, scooped necklines that freed her from irritation. She told me she’d add a scarf to reduce thier visiability - not only did strangers ask if she knew she was tall, but would further intrude what happened.

What I remember most wasn’t the garment, or even the fit. It was her husband. He stood beside her, adjusting the neckline gently, suggesting which scarf from her collection might work best. The adjustment and hem folding role, is uaually mine, but I was happy to step aside. He knew what she liked, what made her light up. He didn’t take over; he supported.

Pure love and respect, wrapped up in fabric and patience.

The second visit happened more recently. A tall woman stepped out from behind the fitting curtain to face the mirror - that big mirror that’s already seen more transformation than any department store could. Her partner sat nearby, watching, quiet and deeply present.

He asked her to come closer. She did. As she stood before him, his hand rested softly on her hip, then glided down her leg. The look in his eyes said everything.

I felt like an intruder in that a moment and left to gather another suggestion. It was tender, wordless, powerful - love, admiration, pride. He wasn’t just seeing how she looked in those pants. He was seeing her - tall, confident, comfortable in a way she perhaps hadn’t been before.

I knew: this is what self-efficacy looks like.

The Power of Positive Experience

For tall women, clothes that fit aren’t just about style. They’re about self-belief.

When you put on something that fits the way it should - when the sleeves reach your wrists, when the waist sits where your waist actually is - it does something to your brain. It tells you that you belong. It tells you that your body isn’t a problem to solve.

Psychologists call it self-efficacy - the confidence that you can take on life’s moments and handle them. It’s built through positive experiences, and for many tall women, this might be the first time clothes have created that feeling instead of stealing it.

These are the moments I witness in my studio - the gentle exhale, the lifted chin, the eyes meeting the mirror with pride. Sometimes, it’s followed by laughter. Sometimes, tears. Sometimes, a kiss from someone who’s been waiting to see this version of their person.

It’s more than a pair of pants. It’s a connection with self.

The Look of Love, Reimagined

That first look of love from my husband in 2021 wasn’t about the jumper - it was about what the jumper represented. Confidence. Courage. The quiet strength of tall women taking up their rightful space in the world.

Every time I see that look reflected in the eyes of another partner - that “there you are” moment - I’m reminded why Miss G & Me exists.

It’s not just about fit. It’s about freeing tall women from the self-doubt stitched into years of ill-fitting clothes. It’s about creating garments that allow love - for self, and from others - to be seen again.

And yes, sometimes, it’s about that kiss.

Our Miss G & Me Studio in Cambridge, Tasmania, is the only dedicated space in Australia created exclusively for tall women and their friends to try on garments designed for tall proportions.

Every hook, mirror, and fitting seat is placed with intention, because comfort and confidence shouldn’t require compromise. Here, women experience what it feels like when clothes truly meet them - in height, in proportion, and often, in emotion - in a space that properly accomodates them, too.

Appointments at the studio have become more than fittings; they’re shared experiences - of laughter, relief, discovery, and sometimes even love.
