As many wave goodbye to winter in Australia and set off on global adventures, the excitement of exploring new destinations is often tempered by the perennial challenge faced by tall women: finding stylish and comfortable clothing that fits our longer limbs. We know mainstream fashion falls short (literally) in accommodating our longer legs, higher pant rise, and extended sleeve length, leading to an uncomfortable travel experience. However, armed with a curated selection of outfits, I believe we can travel in style and clothing comfort (securing the emergency exit seat allocation is a whole blog post).
And for a full back story on how I came to be here designing beautiful clothes for tall women, start here - Diary of a Tall Woman Wanting (beautiful) pants that fit.
Diary entry winter '24: The Tall Woman's Guide to Travel Fashion
A GIRL'S WEEKEND...
In June of 2024, 12-year-old Miss G & I headed to Sydney for a girl's winter weekend away (brilliantly disguised as a fabric-sourcing expo). Not as glamorous as Singapore, Japan or the Amalfi Coast, but I was nonetheless curating my wardrobe with much excitement. Happily, I had no 'I have nothing to wear' drama as I zipped down the lid on my 7kg carry-on.
THE BLAZER
For me, the 'Penni' Single Breasted Blazer was always coming for the trip - incredibly skilled tailoring that allows a variety of styling; in-flight comfort that scored an upgrade to the extra legroom aisle (win!), two days wandering a fabric sourcing expo (looking so casually smart) and a night at the theatre. How many top layers that beautifully fit can do that?
THE COMFY PANTS & TOP
In the evenings, Miss G & I explored the 8km Vivid light show around Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. I was never aware of the 12-degree evening thanks to 'Maddie' Chillax Pant and 'Jen' Long Sleeve being my trusty protectors!
